What is a scholarly source?

Scholarly sources are written by experts with the intention of contributing to the knowledge in their field. They do this by providing new original research or by summarizing, analyzing or interpreting existing knowledge in the field. See Chapter 1 of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.) for more information.
